Frequently Asked Questions

Q: HOW LONG DO YOU NORMALLY PLAY FOR?
A: Normally I do one or two sets of forty minutes to an hour, depending on what is right for the event. Events like church weddings often only want one or two numbers for the arrival of the bride, during the signing of the register and perhaps exit of the couple.

Q: WHAT BACKING DO YOU USE?
A: I use high-quality backing tracks if I work on my own and also play guitar for some accoustic numbers as appropriate.

Q: DO YOU EVER USE LIVE BACKING MUSICIANS?
A: I love working with live backing and work with my fabulous MD Ian Riley as much as I can. Just give me a call to discuss any of the following options:

  • pianist/keyboard player
  • pianist/keyboard, bass and drums
  • seven to twelve piece big-band

You might choose to have a band for dance music with me providing the cabaret spots, either working with them or using my own backing tracks. The choice is entirely yours.

Q: CAN YOU RECOMMEND OTHER ENTERTAINERS & VENUES?
A: I've worked with all sorts of acts - comedians, magicians, hypnotists etc. as well as after-dinner speakers and toastmasters - so just ask. If I don't know them personally I can recommend agents to talk to. Go to the links page.

Q: WHAT EQUIPMENT DO YOU USE?
A: I have a great PA system from L.U.C.A.S. HK that is fine for venues up to about two/three hundred people. This can be linked to other larger systems when required.

Q: IS IT PAT TESTED?
A: Yes it is all annually tested - view certificate

Q: DO YOU HAVE PUBLIC LIABILITY INSURANCE?
A: Yes, as a member of Equity - the showbusiness union - I have substantial cover with Royal Sun Alliance of £10 million - view certificate
